Koda’s 2003 Toyota Tacoma
The platform I chose was the 1st gen Tacoma. A 2003 Toyota Tacoma V6 Double Cab to be exact. I’ve always been interested in this exact model, but couldn’t easily find one at first and I ended up with an access cab. I quickly grew out of the access cab since it wasn’t enough cabin room for me, Isabel, and Koda. We sold that truck and luckily found this one right after. It came with lots of tasteful mods, but since then, we’ve changed quite a few things and truly made it our own. I’ll list down some of our favorite mods down below.
Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003’s
I’ve only had them a short while, but they are by far my favorite tire as far as design goes. To get such an aggressive look, but not forget about performance, is truly something I admire. I chose this tire for it’s capability and durability. It’s the right tire for me and my type of travels.
Kinsmen Hardware Quick Deploy Awning
We’ve had many awnings before this one, but thankfully that this one is far easier to use and worlds stronger than the ones we’ve owned. Witnessing the awning handle 35 - 45 mph winds first hand like it’s nothing is truly something I can get used to. It’s so strong that I hang a hammock off it while we’re camping and it’s been awesome. There is a bit of added weight comparing it to it’s aluminum competitors, but I wouldn’t dare hang a hammock off theirs or trust them in heavy winds. Best part about this awning is that it’s handmade here in the United States.
Pelican Cases
I take protecting my gear pretty seriously. With that being said, it’s obvious that all of my valuables go into Pelican cases. They are the best at what they do for a reason and I won’t bore you with the obvious here. One thing I have to mention is that I am in LOVE with their Trek Pak system. I have a few of their cases and I love the variety that they carry. Basically fits all my gear no matter how big or small they are.
Dometic CFX Fridge
A trip necessity for us is our fridge. It’s changed the way we eat and enjoy our trips by a large margin. It’s nice not having most of the space be filled with Ice only to turn into water later and mix with the contents of what we’re trying to cool.
